#VOXEL30 - LEANNE BROADBENT
This month we are featuring a selection of new drawings by Yorkshire based artist Leanne Broadbent. VOXEL first featured Leanne's work in 2013. The artist gives some insight into the ideas behind her practice in her own words:
'Originally my work was inspired by the sinister morality tales of the Brothers Grimm creating contradictory images between fantasy and reality. Since then my work has naturally evolved and I am currently working on a body of work which reflects on concerns in contemporary society, morality and their emotional implications, considering the psychological state of being at the edge.
Stripping my work back to primarily drawings has enabled me to create elements of beauty, contradicting and contrasting with often grotesque imagery which portrays serious and often disturbing subject matter. Ultimately, my work aims to create a narrative of tension conveying important contemporary issues.'
In 2016 Leanne Broadbent's work will be featured by Guerilla Galleries.
